My goal is still to try to use PE more and more.I did not quite achieve my goal of recording
a monologue or conversation per week, but I was able to spend more time on the
recordings I did do than I have in the past.I have also been attending language tables this semester, which has been
helpful and fun, though its not specifically a part of PE.
My goals for PE are to work on learning some kotowaza, or Japanese idioms.I have a book of them, which includes small
conversations using the idiom.I would
like to work with Shibata Sensei on learning the pitches and rhythms of these
conversations for practice with my prosody and as a way to learn new
interesting vocabulary.
Oh what a shame That we must breathe Being chained and confined to our oxygenated rock jutting out of the sea of darkness If only someone could take my breath away I could visit the icy rainbows on saturn figure skate on pluto’s lonely moon or even meet my almost forgotten friend, the little prince somewhere out there
My Goal is to use PE a lot more this semester. I enjoy working on my own and trying to use the Japanese we have learned in interesting and challenging ways, so the opportunity to get feedback from Sensei is very important. I would like to record one free conversation or monologue per week, even if I do other shadowing assignments that week. I also want to go to Japanese tables this semester. Last semester they didn't work with my schedule but this semester I don't want to miss out on the opportunity to practice more Japanese!
本を三冊をよみました。まず、「Guns, Germs, and Steel」 でした。その本は歴史の本です。トピックは、エウロパの植民地です。強くなるために、西洋はほかの国を脅しました。かなしいですね。植民地のれきしはとても大事。でも学校でアメリカの学生は植民地をあまり勉強しません。
そして、「The New Jim Crow」 の本を読みました。人種の研究本です。アメリカに、人種関係のニュースがよくありますよ。問題は警察の横暴と人種差別です。時々、警察が力で自己防衛しなければなりません。でも、警察は黒人のほうに、白人より暴力をふるいます。それは人種差別と思う人もいます。私の本で人種研究の歴史につぃて学びました。面白かったです。
